Our project is moving along at light speed! We are getting new requests from people who would like to join, and we are also listed on http://www.lionbrand.com under their 'charity organizations'! They listed the link in the wrong format, so you can't 'get here from there', but I'll see if I can get that changed.

Anyway, the great news is...we have TWO SPONSORS!!!!!!!!

Lisa and Alli of http://www.knitwits_heaven.com are allowing us to use their patterns to make items in our group! They are allowing us to copy off the patterns, and give them out to our group members, to make our items for charity...Lisa and Alli...you are the GREATEST~~

Our second sponsor is the lovely Astrid of http://astridsdutchobsessions.com and SHE is graciously giving us a 10% discount on everything we buy from her...AND the last order I got from her, had some lovely gifts in it, of some wonderful 'fun yarns' for the members to see, and touch and feel...and we got some lovely knitting needles, too...we'll be saving up those items to give to our members as 'incentives' for whoever creates the most during a month! Everyone is VERY excited!

And THANK YOU to Lion Brand, for putting our ad up in their charity organizations, so that people in the area can contact us for more information on how to help! We have a good possibility of two new members, and I just got a request for information from a third, who saw the Lion Brand ad! This is SOOO exciting!

We have a LOT of preemie hats that will be sent to the Central California Children's Hospital in Madera, California, and before I send them, I want to get photos of them to put up...and I'm waiting for a few more to come in, from members who forgot to bring them at the last meeting...but as soon as those get here, I'll get pictures of them up and posted here...and then the lot of them will get mailed out to the NICU to help out those new wee ones!

In August, we learned to loom...and learned the basics. We began our preemie hat 'production' and everyone did great..in September, we continued the looming class, and learned how to make horizontal stripes..and BOY! Did we ever get some interesting and lovely hats! There will be some well-dressed young'un's in that NICU!

At the October meeting, we learned the basics of knitting...how to knit, purl, cast on, and how to read a simple pattern and how to bind off.... For our project, we are making washcloths/dishcloths that will go to a Women's shelter....while also continuing our looming work on hats, but making adult-size ones, to send to a Homeless shelter in December. In November, our meeting will continue the knitting project, but with some of the lovely cloth patterns from Lisa and Alli...that have pictures on them! They will still use the basics we have learned, of knit and purl, but the pattern will have more changes between the two stitches, and require more concentration. I know they will be cherished by those who receive them...and those who make them will get great joy out of creating these lovely cloths!

In December, we will begin crocheting...and will probably stay with a washcloth size pattern, but will hook them together to make small lapghans or baby blankets! It's going to be a fun time..and the crocheting will take us through to the end of January, when we'll start over with looming again, only learning more new techniques!

This is the official Blog of The Jenny Project. We are a small group that knits, crochets and looms for charitable purposes. We are all different religions, but believe that to whom much is given, much is expected...and that 'when you do it unto the least of these, my brethren, you do it unto Me." We love God, and we love our less fortunate Sisters and Brothers. We create objects to help the homeless, to help women, children, hospitals, and donate items to the police, to give to trauma victims.
